Although my passion for fitness started at a young age, my career in fitness didn’t start with success. It started with failures. I failed group fitness auditions 3 times. YUP! 😢😭 At that time, I was told that doing group fitness wasn’t a right fit for me and that I should just stay working my 9-5 job to make a living. Did I want to give up? Absolutely!
But deep down, I knew that the corporate world wasn’t made for me, either; I couldn’t see myself “climbing the ladder” for a big job title and working 40+ hours a week in a cubicle. I was tired of wasting my energy for something that I didn’t have strong passion for. I wanted to hustle for what I care about. And I knew I’ve always wanted a career where I could empower and make a positive impact on others’ wellbeing.
The audition failures were a turning point in my life. I changed my perspective about making mistakes. I perceived failures as a progress, where I discovered room for improvements. I became more eager to learn and grow. And looking back to my audition failure three years ago today, I am so blessed for all the opportunities and couldn’t really be more thankful for all the support along the way. I still don’t know where I would have been today if I had let go of my passion and my curiosity of “what would happen if I try again.” Listen to your gut and don’t be afraid to fail. The more you fail, the more chances you get to win.
