"Dans le creux de sa main prend cette larme pâle,
Aux reflets irisés comme un fragment d'opale,
Et la met dans son coeur loin des yeux du soleil." Tristesses de la Lune, Les fleurs du mal, Charles Baudelaire.
On Sunday, my husband and I celebrated six years of marriage. I'm honestly shocked that we haven't killed each other yet. We went to Casey and seen all the Big things small town and also visited Castle Finn Winery.
Such an amazing day!!
"When he was almost 10 years old, Pelé came home and found his father crying. 'Why are you sad, Papa?' he asked. 'I am sad because Brazil has lost the World Cup. Everyone in Brazil is sad tonight.' 'Don't worry, I will win a World Cup for you one day,' Pelé promised.
He went on to win 3 World Cups, the only player ever to do so. This illustration is of young Pelé with his dad from the book Pelé, King of Soccer/El Rey del Futbol. It is the true story of Pelé, King of Soccer, the first man in the history of the sport to score a thousand goals and revolutionize soccer. This book is one of our 24 featured books from our Latinx Heritage Month book list: bit.ly/latinxheritage. Written by Monica Brown, illustrated by Rudy Gutierrez. Ages 4-8.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars for #Patina by @jasonreynolds83
Thanks to the #kidlitexchange network for the review copy of this book - all opinions are my own. 👍🏻
I just read both Ghost and Patina in the last week. While I'm not blown away by them, these are SOLID books that I will absolutely recommend. They do a great job of exploring family issues, diversity, what it means to be a friend, and perseverance. Both Ghost and Patina are well developed characters that are real about their lives and aren't afraid to show the reader that. 👊🏼
And yes, it's about track but it's about so much more than that too! 🏃🏽♀️
I can't wait to add Patina to my #highschoollibrary and start book talking it!
