Oh how world's collide sometimes. I had a quilty IG friend reach out to me about my monarch summer. She had grandparents who wrote a book about Monarchs and would I want a copy?? @quiltedcomforts this book is amazing. I haven't sat down to read it but will tonight with my boys and will be bringing it to my son's classrooms next week as both classrooms enjoy watching the metamorphosis on monarchs. Thank you so very much. Thank you so much for thinking of us and the book is truly beautiful!! #monarchs#migratingmonarchs#metamorphosis#beareader
Reading takes you to new worlds......
This is for all you homeschooling mommas out there who may be struggling teaching your little ones to read. Here is my story. I've homeschooled my 9 children. Start to finish and boy some days I was finished before I started! Reading struggles plagued 7 out of the 9, anywhere from mild struggles to severe. I kept on. We read and read. We did games, flash cards, work books, every method under the sun. We did vision therapy for 5 of my children. But around age 12 it all started to come together. That was also the year we began some music lessons. I've heard learning an instrument helps coordinate right brain left brain activities. It may be true, but I think that was just the age developmentally when it all clicks. (Read the Moores book 'Better Late than Early) I'm not necessarily a proponent of that philosophy but some kids just are late bloomers for whatever reason. Now all but one is a voracious reader. But TWELVE YEARS OLD people!? That's a lot of lost years! When I saw my 6 year old reading Little House series and reading bedtime stories to her OLDER siblings, I was shocked and dismayed. Now my youngest at 14, is a walking History encyclopedia. I don't even know how to teach him, he is so beyond the scope of curriculum out there! He just started reading 2 years ago! Be patient. Work with them. Train your child in the way HE should go. It will be glorious! #beareader#readersareleaders#nomagictimetable#theywilllearn#readaloudrevival#visiontherapy#dontgiveup
